John Travolta flew a
jetliner4 carrying relief supplies, doctors and ministers
from the Church of Scientology into Haiti. The actor piloted his own Boeing
707 from Florida with six tons of ready-to-eat military rations and medical
supplies for survivors of the earthquake.
"The Hurt Locker" took one step closer to Oscar gold. The film scored the
top film award from the Producers Guild of America, building new momentum5
for the Iraq war drama in the Oscar race for best picture.
Michael Douglas' son, Cameron, pleaded guilty to trafficking large
quantities of methamphetamine6 and cocaine. He faces a
minimum 10 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for April 27.
Finally, the "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon7
continued to raise money this week. The album, comprised of performances
from the telethon, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart with
more than 171,000 copies sold.
Sales of the album have helped push the telethon's fundraising8

67 million dollars.
